Mango kootu /Mango stew/மாங்காய் கூட்டு | Gayathiri's Cookbook

Mango kootu is prepared with raw mango and toor dal. You can serve this kootu as a main dish to go with rice or serve it as a side dish for roti/chapathi.

Ingredients:
Mango-1
Oil- 2 tsp
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Green chillies- 3
Curry leaves- For seasoning
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Salt- 3/4 tsp
Shredded coconut- 2 tsp
Toordal- 1/2 cup

Mango kootu recipe:

1. Pressure cook 1/2 cup Toordal for up-to 4 whistles. Mash it well and keep it ready.
2. In a pan, heat 2 tsp oil. Add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp Jeera and 3 green chillies.
When Jeera turns brown, add mango pieces and sauté for a minute.
3. Add 2 tsp channa dal, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder,1 tsp salt and 1 cup of water. Boil until the mango pieces are cooked.
4. Now add mashed & cooked dal and 2 tsp shredded coconut to the gravy. Let it boil for another 2 minutes then switch off the stove.

Mango kootu is ready!!!
