मेदु वड़ा कैसे बनायें | MEDU VADA

Learn how to make your favourite South-Indian dish in the most authentic way!

Ingredients

1 cup split skinless black gram (dhuli urad dal)
½ tsp asafoetida
Salt to taste
1 inch ginger, finely chopped
2-3 green chillies, chopped
6-7 curry leaves, finely chopped
2 tbsps chopped fresh coconut

Method

1. Take split skinless black gram in a large bowl, add sufficient water and wash it for 2-3 times. Drain the water and add sufficient water. Set aside to soak for 3-4 hours.
2. Drain the gram and add it into a blender jar. Blend well, add 1 cup water gradually and continue to blend a smooth and thick paste is formed.
3. Transfer the blended mixture into a large bowl and whip with your hands to incorporate air to make the mixture lighter.
4. Add asafoetida, salt, ginger, green chillies, curry leaves and coconut and mix till well combined.
5. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
6. To make the medu vada, dip your finger in some water and take a portion of the mixture. Flatten it and make a hole in the centre.
7. Gently slide the prepared medu vada a few at a time and deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.
