A popular seafood recipe from Maharashtra where 'Mori' means shark fish and 'kalvan' means curry. Flavourful and comforting!MORICHA KALVANIngredients3-4 medium shark fish (mori), peeled, cleaned and cut into 2 inch pieces4 tbsps oil2-3 green chillies, stemmed and broken1 inch ginger piece6- 8 garlic cloves1 cup scraped coconut2 green chillies, chopped2 medium onions, choppedSalt to taste2 medium tomatoes, chopped4-5 kokum petals½ tsp turmeric powder1 tsp red chilli powder1½ tsps malvani masala 2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander + for garnishMethod1. Heat 2 tbsps oil in a pan. Add green chillies, ginger, garlic and sauté for a minute.2. Add coconut and sauté till golden brown. Allow to cool.3. Transfer in a blender jar, add ½ cup water and grind to fine paste.4. Heat remaining oil in a pan. Add green chillies and sauté for a few seconds. Add onions, salt and sauté till golden brown.5. Add tomatoes and cook till pulpy. Add kokum petals and mix well. Add shark fish and mix well.6. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and mix well. Add malvani masala and mix well.7. Add the ground paste and mix. Add 1½ cups water and mix well. 8. Once the mixture comes to a boil, cover and cook for 5-6 minutes. Add coriander and mix well.9.
