Quick and easy evening snack made with bread topped with potato chaat and cheese grilled itOPEN SANDWICH CHAATIngredients8 white bread slices1 tablespoon oil1 teaspoon split skinless black gram (urad dal)1 teaspoon mustard seeds1-2 green chilies, finely chopped2 raw bananas, boiled, peeled and grated ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder1 teaspoon red chilli powder½ teaspoon dried ginger powderSalt to taste1 teaspoon sugar A1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves Butter as required Green chutney as required¼ medium cabbage, shredded¼ medium purple cabbage, shreddedDate-tamarind chutney for drizzlingChaat masala for sprinkling30 grams processed cheeseSev for sprinklingMethodHeat oil in a non-stick pan. Add split black gram and sauté till golden brown. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.Add green chillies and raw bananas, mix and cook for 30 seconds. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, dried mango powder, salt and sugar and coriander leaves, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes. Transfer in a bowl.Heat an electric griller. Apply some butter and green chutney on one side of each bread slice. To prepare one sandwich, spread some banana mixture on the chutney side of one bread slice and cover with another bread slice with chutney side downwards.Place the sandwiches in the hot griller, apply some butter on top, cover and toast till golden brown and crisp from both sides. Remove from griller and remove the top bread of the sandwiches.Cut the base bread slices into 2 equal triangles and place on a serving platter. Spread some cabbage and purple cabbage. Drizzle some green chutney and date-tamarind chutney and sprinkle some chaat masala on top. Grate some cheese and sprinkle some sev on top and serve hot.
