The apples provide some sweetness and tartness, the onions and garlic add some savory while the almonds add a nice little crunch.Ingredients:1 - 2 bunches organic chard1 medium onion, super fine dice3 cloves garlic, minced2 tsp. fresh lemon juice2 organic apples, I used one tart and one sweet cup toasted sliced almondsOlive oilSaltDirections:Rinse the chard under cold water and dry on a clean towel or paper towels. Remove the green leafy part of the chard from stem. You can either tear it or cut it off with a knife. Then chop up the stems to use in this or save for another recipe. Peel and core the apples. Then chop them into bite size pieces and drizzle about 1 Tbsp. of lemon juice over the apples. In a large frying pan, add 1 to 2 Tbsp. of olive oil over medium high heat. Add the onion to the pan and cook/stir them for about 5 minutes until soft and slightly brown.Next add the chard stems to the pan and cover, cooking an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the minced garlic and stir. Cook another minute. Then add the apples and cook for about 2 minutes and then add the chard.Use tongs to mix the onion/chard mixture and cook for about 5 minutes or until the chard softens a bit.Sprinkle the toasted sliced almonds over the top and serve.
