How to make a healthier Shirley Temple drink by making your grenadine from scratch.

It's easy to do as grenadine is made from pomegranate juice and sugar and is simmered over medium high heat until it reduces into a thicker syrup.

Ingredients:
4 cups 100% Pomegranate juice
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup 100% Cherry juice
Pelligrino water or Club soda
slices of fresh lemon and lime

Directions:
Add pomagranate juice, cherry juice and sugar to a sauce pan and heat over medium high heat. Simmer for 15 minutes or until the syrup thickens and reduces by 1/3.

Cool the syrup completely.

When you are ready to mix a drink, fill a glass with ice and pour in the Pelligrino water or club soda.

Add a splash or more of the grenadine syrup, some lemon and lime juice and stir. Garnish with a slice of lemon or lime. Enjoy.
