SINGAPORE HAWKER FOOD Covent Garden Prawn Noodle () Havelock Road Cooked Food Centre

Used to be run by an elderly couple, Mr and Mrs Lee, the stall is now run by hardworking Ms Yim who took over the reins of the business.

Mr Lee founded the prawn noodle business in the 1960s, operating Kok Kok Mee on a pushcart as a street hawker. He would go around, hitting a piece of bamboo with a stick, making Kok Kok sounds to let people know that his prawn noodles were here for everyone.

Other than the usual lean meat slices, prawns and fish cake, a piping bowl of the stall's old school noodles also contains pig intestine and pig skin.

Behind the seemingly simple noodles is the hard work put in by Ms Yim who single-handedly runs against the clock as early as 4am to prepare.

Mrs Lee is currently helping Ms Yim out at the stall with preparations, at the same time imparting the decades of experience.
