SINGAPORE HAWKER FOOD Geylang Briyani Stall Geylang Serai Market & Food Centre

A stall bustling with daily activity, Geylang Briyani Stall is run by an Indian-Muslim family of closely-knitted relatives. Opened in 1964, the business has been around for nearly 6 decades. It is currently operated by the second and third generations of the family.

The legacy was passed down to the younger third generation, one of the few who decided to take over the familys business.

Preparations start at 6am. Cooking batches of huge amounts of chicken and mutton curry is really something that shouldnt be taken lightly. The meats need to be cooked for hours to soften and absorb the spice flavours. Constant stirring of the curries is required, and that is very strenuous.

The end results are very thick and rich curries, that make you down mouthful after mouthful, with their briyani rice.
