SINGAPORE HAWKER FOOD Pan Ji Cooked Food () Chinatown Complex Food Centre

66-year-old owner Mr Poon established the stall 1983. It is a rare existing hawker stall that sells Sachima, freshly made by hand. Making Sachima takes him hours and heavy manual work.

Mr Poon kneads the dough, cuts them into strips, and deep fries them, then mixes them with sugar syrup. A tray of Sachima is compacted by hand. The result is a soft, sticky, and delicious pastry.

There is no successor in sight to take over Mr Poons business. Sadly, his retirement might mark the end of the old-school pastry that reminds many of their childhood days.
