Sun Protection Trends: Good News for People AND the Earth!

Got any oxybenzone or octinoxate in your house? If you have any conventional sunscreen at all, you probably do - time to ditch them! Not only are they so toxic to coral reefs that tropical areas have been literally banning these SPF ingredients left and right, but they're also endocrine disruptors and highly toxic to human development and fertility. :(

Your sunscreen affects my family, too, because they persist in the environment after you swim and shower off and the sunscreen washes into the water supply.

This is a BIG deal but with good news - my guest today is both a lawyer and sunscreen formulator, and she catches us up on what's happening in the legal system of numerous countries and U.S. states with these toxic ingredients, plus shares some practical information for worried parents. (Spoiler: It's not that hard to avoid this problem!)

No time to watch the whole interview? We took "skim notes" for you right here: https://www.kitchenstewardship.com/sun-protection-trends/

And if you just need a safe, natural mineral sunscreen for your family, I have actually reviewed over 100 brands! Kokua is one of the top 10. See them all (and the great discount on Kokua!) here: https://www.kitchenstewardship.com/sunscreen

Our guest: Tatyana Cerullo is an attorney from Hawaii, a former triathlete, a sunscreen formulator and most importantly, mom of 2 lovely children. She and her husband, an adventurous sailing/outdoor type, founded Kokua Suncare in 2017 and are fervent advocates of reef safety and human health when it comes to what we put on our skin to protect from the sun.
