Thai Sticky Rice — 3 ways I Good Times With Jen | Tastemade

These 3 easy ways to make a classic Thai treat prove that sticky situations can be pretty sweet.

INGREDIENTS:
Glutinous rice (also known as sweet rice)
Water

STEPS:
Method 1 | Steamer
Rinse 2 cups rice in cold water 2-3 times. Soak the rice in a bowl with enough cold water to cover, for at least 1 hour. Using a steamer pot, add water and be sure it does not touch the bottom of the steamer basket. Once boiling, drain the water from the rice, and place the grains in cheesecloth or a thin clean kitchen towel. Place the package in the steamer basket, spread the grains evenly, cover with a lid, and cook for about 15-20 minutes. Check the rice at 10 minutes and lightly fluff with a fork.

Method 2 | Rice Cooker
Rinse 2 cups rice in cold water 2-3 times. Place in a rice cooker, along with 2 1/2 cups water. Set to cook. Once done, test the doneness and fluff with a fork. If the rice is still a little more than al dente, close the lid and allow to sit for about 20 minutes.

Method 3 | Microwave
Rinse 1 cup rice in cold water 2-3 times. Soak the rice in a bowl with enough cold water to cover, for at least 20 minutes. Drain some water, until there is about 1/4 inch of water from the surface of the rice. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave for 4 minutes. Carefully peel back the plastic wrap, fluff with a fork, cover again and microwave for another 4 minutes. Repeat the process again, until the rice is fully cooked.
