The Original?? Maybe Not... 1916 Aviation Cocktail Recipe - Cocktails After Dark

1916 Aviation Cocktail Recipe - Glen And Friends Cocktails After Dark
Glen is back combing through his old cocktail books looking for those gems that may have been forgotten, or maybe forgotten for good reason. Today we look at the Aviation Cocktail, often credited as invented by Hugo Ensslin in 1916. But did you know that there was an earlier different cocktail by the same name found in a cocktail book by Jacques Straub? Jacques is no stranger to the limelight as he is often credited as the inventor of the Old Fashioned cocktail while he was working at the Pendennis Club in Kentucky. We also do Harry Craddock's version from the Savoy Cocktail book published in the 1930s.
