Tomato rasam is a traditional South Indian accompaniment for hot steamed rice.This can also be taken as a soup when someone is suffering from cold or cough.Ingredients:Toordal- 1/4 cupTamarind juice- 1.5 cupsTomatoes- 3Turmeric powder- 1/4 tspSalt-As neededHing- A pinchJeera- 1 tspSambar/rasam powder- 1 tspOil/ghee- 1 tspMustard seeds- 1 tspDirections:1. Pressure cook 1/4 cup of toordal for upto 4 whistles. Mash it well and keep it aside.2.Take 1.5 cups of tamarind juice and 3 tomatoes in a pan.Add turmeric powder, salt, jeera and sambar powder to it. Mix it well and let it boil till the raw smell of the masala powder goes away.3.When the tamarind juice is reduced to 1/2 and the masala powders are cooked, add the mashed toordal water.4.
