Ven pongal is a popular South Indian food prepared with rice and moongdal. It can be prepared quickly for breakfast or dinner.It’s a very easy and comfort food.Sambar or Gothsu will be great side dish for pongal.Ingredients:Rice- 1/2 cupMoongdal- 1/2 cupSalt- 1/2 tspGhee- 2 tbspBlack pepper- 1/2 tspCumin seeds- 1 tspGrated ginger-1/4 tspCashews- 7Curry leaves- For seasoningDirections:1. Roast moongdal until golden brown. Add moongdal, salt and 4 cups of water to 1/2 cup rice.2. Pressure cook this for upto 4 whistles. Once cooked, mash it and keep it aside.3. Heat 2 tbsp ghee. Add black pepper, cumin seeds, curry leaves, grated ginger and cashews. Roast until cashews turn golden brown.4.
