Where to Buy Japanese Wagyu Beef in the USA | Japanese Eats

I've gotten a couple of questions about where to buy Japanese Wagyu or Kobe beef in the United States. Well, if you live in California, New York, or Hawaii, you may be in luck, as Nijiya Market could be in your neighborhood!

Nijiya Market opened its first store in 1986 in San Diego, California, in hopes of contributing to the local society through Japanese food, and make the wonderful taste of Japanese cuisine known to the people of America. It operates in conjunction with their local, organic Nijiya Frams, and also imports many food items directly from Japan, including Kobe and Wagyu beef!

This video captures a selection of meats in Nijiya Market. Apart from their top quality A5 Wagyu Beef (which is the highest grade possible), they also carry Berkshire pork, which is a rare breed of pig originating from the English country of Berkshire. The pork is prized for juiciness, flavour and tenderness, and is pink-hued and heavily marbled

Make sure to call ahead to check if they are selling Wagyu beef before you visit, as these special shipments from Japan are few and far between.
