A Barcelona Pastry Chef Makes Traditional Coque de Sant Joan Devour Barcelona

La Nit de Sant Joan (Saint John's Eve) is a big deal in Catalonia. The night of the 23rd of June, the city lights up with fireworks, firecrackers and bonfires as we celebrate the summer solstice or the longest night of the year.

Of course, this wouldn't be Spain without a special pastry in accordance with this saint's day! On Sant Joan, it is typical to eat a "coque de Sant Joan", a flat pastry traditionally made with sugar, pine nuts and candied fruit.
