How Your Salad Dressing is Slowly Killing you (and what to do to change it)!

This video will show you how to make a healthy Italian salad dressing recipe as well as a balsamic vinegar salad dressing recipe using extra virgin olive oil. The video also discusses some of the reasons why store bought salad dressing with inflammatory oils are bad for your health and why you should use heart healthy oils such as extra virgin olive oil instead.

Here's an awesome, in-depth video explaining the science behind why vegetable oil and processed inflammatory oils are horrible for your health from Dr. Sten Ekberg:

Both recipes are easy to make with no special equipment. All you really need is a jar with a tight sealable lid, such as a mason jar. But you can also look on Amazon for salad dressing bottles if you want to! Homemade salad dressing recipes that contain an emulsifier, like the mustard and honey in the balsamic vinegar dressing, should be able to not separate if you make them in a blender. You can achieve this by combining the vinegar, emulsifiers and spices first, then adding the oil in a very slow stream with the blender running on 60-70% speed. But in my video, this recipe for Italian salad dressing has no emulsifying ingredient and thus the oil and vinegar will always separate. But thats no big deal, just give the jar a shake before you serve it and it will remix just fine.

Italian salad dressing recipe:
You can use any container with a tightly sealing lid. If you want, you can get salad dressing bottles on Amzaon, or you can just use a mason jar.
3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup red or white wine vinegar
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
1/2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder

original title: How to make healthy salad dressing with olive oil - Italian and balsamic dressing!
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Combine spices with vinegar in a mason jar. Then add oil to jar and shake vigorously. You will have to reshake the container each time you use it as the oil and vinegar will separate.
Balsamic Vinaigrette
- cup extra virgin olive oil
- cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- teaspoon fine sea salt
- teaspoon freshly crushed black pepper (or to taste)
Combine spices with honey, mustard and vinegar and whisk together in a bowl, then add to a blander. You can also whisk by hand, its just really tiring! Then add oil to blender in a slow steady stream. If youre do it right, the mustard and honey will help emulsify the oil with the vinegar so that you wont have to reshake the container each time you use. If not, no biggie, just reshake your container if the oil and vinegar will separate.
