Jackfruit Gatti is a well known traditional breakfast recipe in Udupi-Mangalore and the surrounding region. This cuisine is liked by everyone in my family...Jackfruit is one of the least known superfoods. There is a lot of cherished memories with this jackfruit. Jackfruit Gatti is one most commonly prepared dish during its season which mostly happens to be in monsoon. Traditionally jackfruit Gatti is made using teak leaves or the saguvani ele. Teak leaves impart their own colour, aroma and most importantly medicinal values to this dish apart from the colour and flavour from jackfruit pods. But when teak leaves are not available this gattis can be prepared using plantain leaves. jackfruit Gattis were simply divine.
