Padengi Bajil /Sprouted moong usli with masala poha is another traditional Mangalorian breakfast specialty. Bajil is poha in Tulu and padengi is green gram, so the name is padengi bajil. It is an easy breakfast or snack recipe which is often served with a combination of avalakki upkari and hesarukaalu usli, a traditional recipe which is delicious and just irresistible in taste.

Avalakki upkari/Bajil upkari was a very popular breakfast dish in most of the marriage functions in the 1980s. later it got replaced by idli sambar. for breakfast, bajil is always served in the combo with padengi (green gram) or sajjige (upma) or kadle (chana). hear I prepared combo of padengi and bajil(green gram with poha).i just love this traditional combo recipe. this is a very nutritious, wholesome, tasty and healthy combo.
