SINGAPORE HAWKER FOOD Xiang Xiang Nasi Lemak () Tanjong Pagar Food Centre

Mr and Mrs Ho, the owners of Xiang Xiang Nasi Lemak, are already hard at work at 3am at Tanjong Pagar Food Centre, when many are asleep. Preparations start in the wee hours of the morning - frying ingredients, chilli sauce, cooking rice.

Xiang Xiang is the first Nasi Lemak stall that opened in Tanjong Pagar Food Centre. It all started when Mrs Hos mother suggested she open the first Nasi Lemak stall in the food centre in the early days. Her husband later joined her in the hawker business. They are now the oldest Nasi Lemak stall in the food centre.

One of their specialties is fried Ikan Bilis. Other than Nasi Lemak, the couple sells fried Ikan Bilis in boxes of $3.50, in 2 flavours, fried with and without chilli sauce. Their Ikan Bilis has become a favourite amongst customers.

Branching out from the standard Nasi Lemak, the stall offers a variety of items to go with Nasi Lemak, such as ngoh hiang, fish cake, luncheon meat, fish fillet, and stir-fried cabbage.

Their Sambal Chilli Sauce is spicy and hits the spot. It has the fragrance of fried shallots, and lies more towards the sweet side. A good condiment to go with the rich coconut rice!
