Serves 6 persons
"Giouvetsi" is the term used for a baked Greek dish made with chicken, lamb or beef and pasta, either kritharaki (orzo) or hilopites in tomato sauce. It is usually spiced with Cinnamon, all-spice, cloves or bay leaves, wine as well as some grated cheese to serve.
This renowned recipe brings back many happy childhood memories. In the 60's and 70's, Chicken was a luxury food. My Mom used to cook it as Giouvetsi for a Sunday Special Family Lunch! With 1 Chicken she tried to feed 8 people, making it look “plenty” with Orzo...and she ended up eating only the wings
