Contrary to popular belief (oh well at least mine), salted vegetables and duck soup or kiam chye ark tng is actually a Peranakan/Nyonya cuisine. I have been eating this since young because my granny and mother used to cook this yummy soup. This explains why I always have the misconception - thinking this is a typical Chinese soup. It doesn't help that many roasted duck stalls in singapore usually serves this soup as one of the available soups for selection. Hope you can recreate this yummy dish in the comfort of your home.
