Flaky, Buttery, Raisin Pastries! | The Chinese Cuisine

These raisin pastries are flaky, buttery, delicious, and completely made from scratch! It is perfect as a simple breakfast or dessert.

INGREDIENTS:
- 175 g all-purpose flour
- 60 g milk
- 15 g sugar
- 14 g soft butter
- 100 g cold butter
- 40 g cold water
- 4 g yeast
- salt
- raisins

DIRECTIONS:
1. mix the flour, yeast, sugar, butter, water, and milk
2. add a dash of salt to the dough and slowly knead the ingredients together
3. rest the dough for 1 hour
4. after an hour, roll the dough out into a flat sheet
5. place thin slices of butter on the sheet
6. fold the edges of dough over the butter
7. roll out into thin sheet and fold again (this will form the layers. make sure that the butter doesn't melt! it needs to stay separate from the dough.)
8. repeat step 7 as shown in the video
9. once the dough is in a long rectangle, add in raisins
10. roll the dough up
11. chop the dough up into discs
12. flatten each disc by rolling it out
13. brush on first layer of egg wash
14. after 15 minutes, brush on second layer
15. then, bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. (177 centigrade)
