This recipe is dedicated for those of us fasting during Lent. We do miss a lot of food and sweets, especially the ones with chocolate! That's why many of you wrote to me, asking me for a good recipe for a lenten chocolate cake!
This Chocolate Cake called Sokolatopita meaning Chocolate Pie in Greek, will fascinate you! It is very chocolaty, moist, juicy, filling and light at the same time! Let me show you how to make it!
A marvelous cake that will dazzle the whole family, and you wont even realize that it is lent and vegan.

INGREDIENTS:
Ingredients for the cake:
3 cups / 375 gr / 13.2 oz Self-raising Flour, sifted
1 cup / 225 gr / 7.9 oz Sugar
6 tbsp. / 45 gr / 1.6 oz Cocoa powder, sifted
1 cup / 250 ml Hot Water
2/3 cup / 165 ml Vegetable Oil
1 cup / 250 ml Fresh Orange Juice
1 tsp. baking Soda
Zest from one Orange
1 tbsp. / 15 ml Vinegar
8- 16 gr / 0.3 - 0.6 oz / 2-4 tsp. Vanilla sugar (powder)
1 pinch of Salt

Ingredients for the Syrup:
2 cups / 500 ml Water
1.7 cups / 380 gr / 13.4 oz Sugar
70 gr / 2.5 oz dark Chocolate, cut in pieces

Ingredients for glazing:
300 gr / 10.6 oz dark Chocolate, cut in pieces
cup / 125 ml Vegetable Oil
1-2 tbsp. Orange zest
Optional for garnish: 10 large Strawberries, washed
