Fried Flour Gruel (油炒面/面茶) | The Chinese Cuisine

This is a classic, delicious, lightly sweetened snack from Beijing made from cooked dough and aromatic roasted nuts mixed with hot water. You can adjust the thickness to your liking!

INGREDIENTS (2-4 servings):
- 50g toasted cake flour
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 2 tbsp./20g sugar
- 10g golden raisins
All nuts/seeds are roasted and unsalted:
- 10g peanuts
- 1 tbsp./15 g white sesame seeds
- 4 pecan halves
- 5g pine nuts

DIRECTIONS:
1. toast raw cake flour over low heat until it turns golden brown
2. crush the nuts into small pieces
3. add oil into pan over low heat. wait for the oil to warm up before mixing in flour
4. once thoroughly mixed, add in nuts and sesame seeds
5. add in sugar and mix thoroughly
6. combine 1:2 ratio o the mixture to hot water to make the "gruel"
7. serve and enjoy!
